F-117 Nighthawk
Background
The F-117A production decision was made in 1978 with a contract awarded to Lockheed Advanced Development Projects, the "Skunk Works," in Burbank, Calif. The first flight over the Nevada test ranges was on June 18, 1981, only 31 months after the full-scale development decision.
See the Huey at a public viewing at Fox Airvield from 11am - 3pm Friday, November 10th
The UH-1B Huey is from the Wings and Rotors Air Museum in Murrieta. The ship SN 62-2084 went from Ft Cambell to Vietnam in 1964 initially with the 101st Airborne Div. It was retired from service in 1984 and served in various civilian uses. It's last life was a bug sprayer in Florida, was painted yellow and had several modifications. In the early 1990's it was put in storage and became a parts bird for the same company until it went up for sale. The museum bought the old workhorse in 2003 and began the long restoration to bring her back into her proud combat configuration of 1965. Restored by staff and several volunteers, 2084 is now a flying memorial to the veterans of the Vietnam war, both here today and to those who did not come home.
Ray and Gary Receive Joint Resolutions from CA Senate & Assembly
(left to right) Co-Chairs Ray Santana and Gary Chapman, both Vietnam Veterans, hold up a Joint Resolution from the California Senate and Assembly encouraging support for the "AV Operation Welcome Home" Parade, which will go down Lancaster Boulevard on Veterans Day, Saturday, November 11, 2006. As the parade name illustrates, this parade will be led by America's Vietnam Veterans, because they never got their Welcome Home Parade. All other veterans and other military personnel will follow close behind.
